Entering the world of therapy with your child might feel like a new and daunting endeavor. SHBH is here to partner with you, helping you navigate the process. There is security in knowing that your child is receiving benefits from an encouraging screened and accredited therapist.
Evaluation & Therapy Plan
After receiving a referral from your physician, one of our friendly staff members will contact you to schedule an initial in-home evaluation with your child.
Your child’s personalized H.E.A.R.T.S. Plan (reflecting out motto of “Helping Every Angel Reach Therapeutic Success”) will be developed based upon your physician’s recommendations, the therapist’s observations, and most importantly, by speaking with you.
We gain approval of your child’s H.E.A.R.T.S. Plan from your physician and insurance company, typically in less than a week. Your child’s therapist and your family will then create a schedule to ensure consistent visits. We will also partner with you to establish the best therapeutic environment to help your child meet or exceed his or her goals.
Each month, a customized schedule will be created for your child. We highly value your input and will endeavor to create a schedule that works well for your family.
At each visit, a licensed, certified SHBH therapist will work with your child on the different skills in their H.E.A.R.T.S. Plan. Our therapists provide exceptional care, ensuring that your child is safe and comfortable while being challenged to develop.
Your therapist will consistently note your child’s progress and challenges in order to modify his or her personalized H.E.A.R.T.S. Plan. A formal review and revision of the plan is performed every six months.
How You Help
We encourage your full participation in helping your child reach his or her potential.
We will provide your family with education to help your child to continue to reach developmental milestones and as much independence as possible. Your SHBH therapists will work with you and share ideas of how you can best help your child between visits.
Feel free to communicate with the therapists and take an active role in your child’s treatment and well-being.
